Recently, we’ve been sending our worm bedding around to potential vendors for testing. Here’s what Steve Churchill, founder and owner of the Urban Worm Company, had to say…
In my own testing at the Urban Worm Company, and testing with other vendors, I am very impressed with the texture and porosity of PittMoss®. I am thrilled that it doesn’t need any pH adjustments, or other preparation for the worms, unlike peat moss.
As vermicomposting is an aerobic process, the maintenance of pore space is critical to keep the compost oxygenated. Also, I have been pleasantly surprised by the fluffy texture, and of the finished vermicompost produced by PittMoss®.
I’m confident that PittMoss® Worm Bedding can be an excellent, high-carbon substrate for vermiculture and vermicomposting purposes, in both commercial and home-use settings.
Urban Worm Bedding by PittMoss® is available through the Urban Worm Company in 1 & 1/2 and 4 cubic foot bags.
