A Recent Interview with Nicole Walker, Winner of the 2018 Canadian Show Jumping Championship Title

Nicole riding Falco Van Spieveld in Toronto, Canada on November 3rd, 2018. Read press release here.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Nicole Walker. I am 25 years old, and I compete on the Canadian Equestrian team.

Outside of my riding, I am Vice President of The Stronach Group, and a board member of the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance.

How did you end up working with horses?

I started working with horses because my family has a huge passion for racehorses. Growing up, my “Opa” would take me for pony rides around our family farm. From then on, I was hooked!

Tell us about your horses and facility.

Adena Springs Show Jumping is based in Aurora, Ontario. On the farm, there is one barn dedicated to sport horses amongst four other race barns.

During the winter months, we migrate our show team to Wellington, FL. There, we have a smaller farm to train for the Winter Equestrian Festival.

Currently; our show team of horses consists of Falco Van Spieveld; Excellent B; and our up-and-comer, Dourados 2.

What makes a quality horse bedding in your opinion?

In my opinion, quality bedding has to be comfortable for the horses, as well as dust and allergen free. PittMoss provides a competitive edge by providing extra cushion for the horses’ joints and tendons.

What did you use before PittMoss?

Why did you make the switch to PittMoss?

We made the switch because our main horse, Falco, had an allergic reaction to shavings. Since being on PittMoss, he is much more comfortable.

We now ensure that Falco is on PittMoss no matter where he is competing in the world!

The first time your horses used PittMoss, what was their reaction, if any?

After sniffing around their new beds, the horses settled right into it!

What are some notable differences since using PittMoss?

There are several reasons why we love the PittMoss bedding. It provides great absorption, it’s dust free, and it’s beneficial to horses’ joints.

It’s also highly consistent, while other types of beddings can be inconsistent.
